Amazon product image requirements, and a free checker
Amazon rejects or suppresses main images that break its rules. Upload your photo and the checker tests the background, the fill and the size the way Amazon does, in your browser, before you list.
Free marketplace product image check
Upload a product photo and we check the actual pixels: whether the background is the pure white Amazon requires, how much of the frame the product really fills, whether there is transparency, and the size. The check runs in your browser and your photo is never sent to a server.
The check measures the image edges and the product's bounding box, so it is accurate for a single product on a plain background. For a lifestyle photo with a busy background the numbers don't apply, and there is no white-background rule there anyway.
The main image rules
- Pure white background: RGB 255,255,255. Off-white, grey or a light shadow across the background is the most common reason for a suppressed listing.
- The product fills about 85% of the frame. Wide empty margins make it look small in search results.
- At least 1,000 pixels on the longest side, so shoppers can zoom in.
- Only the product: no text, logos, badges, borders or extra items that are not included in the sale.
How to fix a photo that fails
Most failures are the background and the fill, and both are fixed the same way: open the free white background tool, upload the photo and choose Amazon. You get a square JPG on exact white, with the product centered and filling 85% of the frame, at least 1,000 pixels per side.
If the photo is simply too small, start from the original file instead of a copy from a chat app, or run it through the image enhancer.
The images after the main one
The rules above are for the main image. The other images in the listing are where you sell: the product in use, on a person, at scale next to a hand, in a room. Lifestyle and on-model images answer the shopper’s questions before they have to ask.
IsraModel AI makes those from the same phone photo: the product in a studio or lifestyle scene, or clothing and jewelry on a realistic AI model. The product itself is kept as it is. The free plan includes 5 standard images a month.

Can you use AI images on Amazon?
Amazon judges the image, not how it was made: it has to follow the image rules and show the product the customer will actually receive. An AI image that changes the product’s color, shape or details misleads the buyer; one that shows the real product on a model or in a scene is a product photo like any other.
Questions
What background does Amazon require?
Pure white, RGB 255,255,255, on the main image. The other images in the listing may have any background.
What size should Amazon product images be?
At least 1,000 pixels on the longest side so zoom works; a square of about 2,000 pixels is a safe choice for every category.
What does "85% of the frame" mean?
The product's longest side should cover about 85% of the image's side. The checker measures it, and the white background tool's Amazon option crops to it automatically.
Is the checker free, and is my photo uploaded?
It is free with no sign-up, and it runs in your browser; your photo is not uploaded.
