Instagram product photos for a feed that sells
A store on Instagram needs a steady flow of fresh, consistent images, and that is hard to keep up with one photo shoot a season. Here are the sizes Instagram works with, what makes a product post stop the scroll, and how to create a steady stream of on-brand images from phone photos.

Instagram photo sizes and ratios
| Placement | Export size | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Portrait post (4:5) | 1,080 x 1,350 px | Most product posts: takes more of the screen |
| Square post | 1,080 x 1,080 px | Catalog-style posts and carousels |
| Story (9:16) | 1,080 x 1,920 px | Full-screen vertical images |
According to Instagram’s help center, checked October 15, 2026, photos are shared at up to 1,080 pixels wide, larger photos are sized down to that width, and the original resolution is kept for aspect ratios between 1.91:1 (landscape) and 3:4 (portrait). Upload at least 1,080 pixels wide so nothing is enlarged. The sizes above are what the free resizer exports; it creates all of them from one photo at once.
Frame for the crop you cannot see
The same post is seen full size in the feed, smaller on your profile and smaller still when someone shares it. Keep the product centered with some room on every side, and never put the important detail at the edge of the frame. A quick check before posting: cover the outer strip of the photo with your thumbs. If the product still reads, it will read everywhere. When you post a carousel, use the same shape for every image so the swipe feels like one story.
What makes a product post stop the scroll
- A person in the frame. Clothes worn, a ring on a hand, a bag on a shoulder. People look at people; a product on a hanger rarely stops anyone.
- Real places and light. A sunny street, a styled home, a cafe table. Lifestyle images feel like the feed around them instead of an ad.
- A consistent look. Two or three backgrounds and one color mood across the feed make the profile read as a brand at first glance.
- Carousels that tell a story. The look, the detail, the fit, the second color. Each swipe adds one reason to buy.
- Variety over repetition. Mix on-model shots, close-ups and scenes, so the feed never looks like the same photo posted twelve times.

A month of posts without a photo shoot
IsraModel AI turns a phone photo of your product into post-ready images. For fashion: an editorial shot, the garment reshot on a model, a new outfit for your model, or a mannequin or flat lay photo turned into a model photo. For jewelry: the piece on a model, on the body, in a styled or lifestyle scene, or in close-up. For other products: a scene, a product-in-hand shot, or a shot with a model. Choose a backdrop, the model and the framing, and keep them for the next product so the feed stays consistent.
A standard image costs 5 credits, and the free plan includes 5 standard images a month. Download the images, resize them for the post type, and post as usual. The same images work in your store and in fashion product pages.

Questions
What size should Instagram product photos be?
Upload at least 1,080 pixels wide. A 1,080 x 1,350 portrait (4:5) post takes the most room in the feed, 1,080 x 1,080 works for square posts, and 1,080 x 1,920 fills a story.
What aspect ratios does Instagram accept for photos?
Instagram's help center says photos keep their resolution for aspect ratios between 1.91:1 (landscape) and 3:4 (portrait), at widths up to 1,080 pixels.
Should every product post include a model?
Not every one. A mix works best for most feeds: on-model shots for fit and feel, close-ups for detail, and scenes for mood. The point is that the feed never looks like the same photo posted again and again.
Can I use AI product photos on Instagram and in ads?
Yes, you can use them commercially. Show the product as it really is: IsraModel AI keeps the product as photographed and changes the model, the scene or the light around it.
